3.9 magnitude quake shakes Big Island

HILO, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 3.9 magnitude earthquake shook some residents on the Big Island of Hawaii Friday night, but there were no reports of any damage. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake occurred at 10:30 p.m. and was centered 10 miles southwest of Volcano town, or 27 miles south of Hilo. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said no tsunami was generated by the quake. The earthquake was felt by many residents in East Hawaii island, including those in the Puna and Hilo Districts.
