LIHUE, Hawaii (AP) - An experimental shuttle on Kauai's north shore is attracting passengers. The Garden Island newspaper reports the Experience Kauai shuttle had more than 1,000 passengers in November, its first month. More than 1,500 rode the shuttle in December and it's on course to carry even more passengers this month. The shuttle goes to resorts and popular visitor spots in Princeville, Hanalei, Wainiha, Haena and Kee. Kauai County Office of Economic Development Director George Costa says the primary goal is to reduce the cars that travel to the Hanalei and Haena area and park at Kee Beach. The shuttle charged introductory fares of $2 each way for visitors and $1 each way for residents during its first two weeks. The fares have since been raised to $4 and $2, respectively.
