Grieving Rottweiler refuses to leave dead brother

SEATTLE (YouTube) - It's a video that is gaining traction on the internet, and eliciting a strong emotional outpouring from viewers who believe dogs feel some of the same sentiments as humans. A grieving dog owner posted a heart-wrenching video on YouTube of his Rottweiler Brutus and described how his dog refused to leave the side of his brother, Hank, after Hank passed away during the night. " …clearly you can see in his eyes, he is crying for his brother who had passed as his world around him just crumbled. We both grieve and cry for our brother," BrettVett 1 wrote in the video description. He said that he had never before seen his Rottweiler whine or cry in the two years he has owned the dog. He said Hank had stopped eating, but was still drinking and nibbling his food, so he thought he would be OK. But the dog passed away one week later in his sleep. He said he would not normally record real-life catastrophes, but wanted to share this moment online to send a powerful message that dogs experience strong emotions. BrettVett1 wrote in the description: "This is proof that animals DO have emotions and feel pain just like we do… Let the world know animals feel love and pain just like us. Don't let Hank's passing die in vein [sic] with him… Please share our story." The video was posted Jan. 24.
