Kakaako has been in the news a lot lately. If you’ve been following Hawaii news, you probably heard of all the new development planned for Kakaako in the next couple of years. The population of Kakaako is projected to double in the next 5 to 6 years.

One interesting aspect of Kakaako is that it is the biggest melting pot as there is no dominant demographics, such as gender, profession types, or income types. Kakaako attracts people and family of all sorts of background, social economic status, education and interests. There is something for everyone here.

Many people are attracted to this neighborhood for its unique convenience of living close to work, after all it’s right next to Downtown Honolulu. After work , there are an abundance of entertainment and recreation awaits you in the neighborhood – water sports, movies, dinner, shopping - everything in one place without fighting traffic.

One of the upcoming development, Ward Village, claims to transform Kakaako into a walking community with pedestrian-friendly sidewalks and streets. Kakaako is also going to be one of the many rail stations on the future Honolulu rail transit route between East Kapolei to Ala Moana. It will be station number 20.

Kakaako is located between Ala Moana, Waikiki, and Downtown Honolulu along the south shores. Even though it is situated along the oceanfront, there are no oceanfront homes at all. But condos in the area boast gorgeous ocean view.
