Public fireworks displays around the island set for New Year’s Eve

For those who would rather watch fireworks than set off firecrackers on New Year’s Eve, here’s a schedule of public fireworks displays on Oahu to welcome in 2015.

All firing times are approximate.

9, 10 and 11 p.m., and midnight — New Year’s Eve Party at Kakaako Waterfront Park. Click here for details.

10:30 p.m. — Fireworks set offshore from a private residence at 4559 Kahala Ave.

11:55 p.m. — The Waikiki Improvement Association will start its show from a barge just off Waikiki Beach. Choreographed music can be heard on Hawaiian 105 KINE FM. The 10 – 12 minute fireworks show will include designs of palm trees, rings, strobes, sparkling fans, colorful falling leaves, brocades and willows falling to the ocean. More than 1,800 shells will be fired during the show.

Midnight — Kahala Hotel and Resort, and Ko Olina Resort
