WASHINGTON D.C. (HawaiiNewsNow) - Congressman Mark Takai and his staff will be celebrating Aloha Fridays — a Hawaii tradition — by wearing aloha-print attire to work in our nation's capital. "I want to bring some of Hawaii's rich cultural heritage to Washington," Takai said. "This is a fun way to display our traditional aloha-print wear, and our pride in our Hawaii roots." Visitors to the Washington office are encouraged to wear aloha print on Fridays as well. “The wearing of aloha attire is one of the ways that Hawaii distinguishes itself from the rest of the country. It evokes the aloha spirit of fellowship and peace, and also speaks to the vibrant and colorful culture that makes Hawaii so unique," he said.
