ORRINGTON, CT (WFSB) - A man in Torrington said he helped an owl after it accidentally flew into his windshield. David Holtman said he recently got out of his pickup truck and found the animal on the ground with its wings spread out. The incident happened on Norfolk Road in the Drakeville section of Torrington. “He touched it to see if it was still alive and knew it was breathing, but it was unconscious,” said Heidi Holtman, David Holtman's mother. She wrote Eyewitness News about what happened. She said David Holtman gently put the owl in his back seat and called Torrington police. Police told him to drive it to their department and that they'd have an animal control officer waiting for it. “As David pulled off the side of the road to drive to the police department, the owl perched up on the seat and jumped up onto David's shoulder,” Heidi Holtman wrote. “And there the owl sat for the whole ride into the police department. Amazing!” David Holtman was able to snap a few pictures of the bird perched on his shoulder. The owl appeared to be OK.
